DETAILS:
2016, 20 panels60x40x25, Bondcrete, hebel, concrete, paint, etching

A work made by driving along the coast from Yanchep to Dawesville. A work made using a CAR, in a city built around the motor vehicle. The work is a response to how WA has been built around this lifestyle of Coast. Each panel is priced based on the median property price of the significant suburb of each panel. Each panel has symbols, text, and a GPS marker that represent the driving that occurred to make the work. The work is about the Physical and mental response we have to place. It has been made from physical response to the sheer size of Perth’s urban sprawl, accessing Google maps and also memory and experience. The work discusses the concept ofSimulacrum, the representation of Likeness and the different modes of technology that affect our geographical relationship with place.
