Custodian hands were made from casts of Aunty Francine Kickett that were enlarged and cast in aluminium. They cup a eucalyptus tree in a garden bed of natives, representing the matrilineal relationship of the Noongar Yorgas and the DNA and genetic lineage to Boodja. It honours the ancestors of the Noongar nation and the land we are on. Hands have been used to heal for thousands of years. Whether it is the warm healing touch, a welcoming gesture or nurturing of community. Hands can express the experiences and stories of a person.
