Networked Alkimos

public art commission for LWP development group and Awesome Arts, 2014
MATERIALS:
steel, powder coating, enamel paint
PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The sculpture consists of a series of connecting points that make up a fractal tree pattern. At each connecting point is a symbol/icon that represents a facility or activity that is about the lifestyle on offer living in Alkimos. If you follow each icon up and across to the next it starts to create a narrative about a “day in Alkimos”. Young people living in the Trinity Alkimos Estate designed the icons and inspired the form of the sculpture through workshops I ran. The sculpture is made mainly from recycling salvaged/discarded building materials.
