PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The City of Fremantle commissioned myself and another artist, Iona McAuley, to design and facilitate an urban art project with young people to paint the Arthur Head, toilet block . We looked at the history of the area as inspiration. The imagery created for the final design reflected the stories of the indigenous convicts, whaling, coral formations, the Roundhouse as a temporary prison for the indigenous who were sent to Rottness Jail and the story of the Waugal (snake) and Yondock (crocodile) fighting to create The mouth of the Swan River where the fresh water is separated from salt water.
